Dermot Kelly is a really excellent DJ who I would thoroughly recommend for any event - whether it’s catering for teenagers or grannies. He has an amazing talent for reading a crowd and knowing exactly what tracks will get the crowd onto the dance floor. He DJs for almost all of the weddings and parties held in the private function room in Fallon & Byrne and we have only ever received glowing reports afterwards. Dermot has DJed for a number of personal parties – including Paul’s 40th – and helped make them a resounding success. The magic ingredient for rocking parties!

I have been working with Dermot for the last 2 years in Medley. Not only is he one of the nicest people to deal with but his energetic style and choice of music get every party started. He has this amazing intuition and can read the crowd very well. Consequently, he can turn the party around within minutes. His equipment is also state of the art and the sound quality is significantly better than most. I would thoroughly recommend Dermot and Velvet DJs.

Having decided not to have a band at our wedding and to just go straight in to a disco I was slightly nervous about how the evening would pan out. However that worry was immediately gone once Dermot started to play. From the moment that Dermot arrived at the wedding the party started. Dermot kept the floor full with music that we all danced to for the whole night. He was friendly, receptive to all requests and a pleasure to deal with. All our guests raved afterwards and I would recommend Dermot wholeheartedly.

Dermot is a sensational DJ. From our first dance to the last song, he played what we asked but also improvised, judged the mood and responded accordingly. The night resonated with eclectic sounds, ranging from 70’s disco right through to 00’s R&B taking in every crucial musical genre in between. Everyone was asking ...'who's the DJ, he's really great'. Dermot is great, he's a 'stand up, get down' kinda guy! Book him now !!!!!!!!

I enlisted the services of Dermot Kelly of Velvet DJs to DJ at our wedding reception in our home. He had been recommended to me by a friend who adores dancing and had seen Dermot in action at another function. We had around 150 guests at the reception, of which the majority spent most of the night on the dance floor once the music got going. Dermot was very accommodating in ensuring we received the correct music on our special night as we catered for varying age groups. Dermot was very easy to deal with and his communication skills were excellent. We met twice before the event and he was very helpful in giving us advice and indeed copies of music that we might use for our first dance and how he would lead it from there. His knowledge of music was astounding and we were very happy to follow his advice. His attitude to his work exuded professionalism as he MC’d the evening with enthusiasm and humour. We had several wonderful comments from our guests both on the night and indeed we still receive compliments about Dermot’s relaxed and engaging personality.
The lighting, sound and special effects were amazing and again extremely professional. He went beyond his efforts in playing for an extra half hour, which we were very grateful for as most of our guests insisted on remaining on the dance floor. My husband and I were very happy with our “night into day” and indeed such was the general reaction of all our guests that our daughter Phoebe, who will be celebrating her 21st in a few weeks time has asked that Dermot DJ the party. We were delighted that he was able to do so and has since been to meet with Phoebe again and chat to her about how she would like her big night to run.
Finally, I would highly recommend Dermot. His own enthusiasm spills out into the crowd.

Dermot had our guests up dancing for the whole night - what more can I say? He really complemented what the band played and the transition from band to DJ was seamless. His energy and enthusiasm were infectious and you had the feeling that he would have played for the whole night if it were possible. Dermot was also very careful to find out what type of music we wanted and consulted with us on everything.

Great DJ, he listened to what we were trying to go for and came up with a great set that had everyone dancing all night. Very professional but also great fun. All our guests raved about the music and we have since passed on his details to many others. Dermot was a fantastic DJ for what was the best day/night ever. We booked Dermot for our wedding in June and he was absolutely brilliant. We thought the band would be the lively part of the evening but the dance floor went totally crazy once Dermot started. He played the songs we wanted, even the obscure ones, but also added in his own choice, which really got the mood of the wedding. Everyone was raving about him and we have some brilliant memories from the dance floor. Also two people have since asked me for his details and have booked him for their weddings. Can’t recommend him enough, he was great and really good value.

We booked Dermot as our DJ having previously attended an event at which he played. Dermot is a brilliant DJ. He is skilled at matching the playlist to the audience and can adapt at any stage if required. We gave Dermot general guidelines about the type of music we liked and the demographics of the audience. He took this on board and got it right on the night. We received lots of positive feedback from our guests and the dance floor was full all night.

We hired Dermot through the venue we had our reception in, so he was not recommended as such, but it was a great decision!! He was given very strict guidelines/rules regarding what was expected from him on the night and there were no issues :o) As instructed, there was no slow set and only proper disco music all night !!! It was a great night and the floor was full all night, I would recommend him for any event, a total professional.

Dermot provided the entertainment for my recent retirement party and was a great success. There was a jazz duo playing for the earlier part of the evening and Dermot managed a seamless transition to the disco part of the evening. I gave Dermot only one 'brief' and that was dance music all night and no slow stuff. I gave him a list of my favourite artists and he played them along with his own disco selection throughout the night. He kept his finger on the pulse of the party all night and kept people up dancing. He also accommodated any music requests from the guests and everyone commented on the quality of the sound.
I would have no hesitation recommending Dermot for any occasion - he showed great flexibility and professionalism and was a lovely person to deal with.

Dermot was a brilliant DJ at my 22nd birthday party. He was very professional, easy to contact, friendly and played all the right songs. He consulted me about the music choices beforehand, so that the playlist perfectly catered for the party. Thanks to Dermot the night ran smoothly, just as I wanted! and the dancefloor was full of energy from start to finish. His enthusiasm was clearly evident as even the next day guests commented on the great selection of music and how friendly and funny the DJ was. All in all a great night! He also took some great pictures which really captured the atmosphere of the evening! I would highly recommend Dermot and happily work with him again.

We had Dermot as our DJ for our wedding in September 2013. We chose him from the reviews on One Fab Day and we were delighted with the recommendation. From the moment I spoke to Dermot on the phone to the wedding day, Dermot was a true professional. He is a very warm, chatty and easygoing person. We met up before the wedding to discuss our taste in music and what we wanted for the day. We didn't have a band so Dermot was starting earlier than usual which was not an issue.On our wedding day, he met all our expectations and more.
